Needless to say this has sent a shockwave through the Body of Christ and has everyone talking about all over the county.  Well finally a member of my Obnoxious Street Committee has contacted me with all the details and they are extremely deep.  The individual goes in extreme detail on reasons why there was bad blood between the two bishops and it was never resolved.  Read the email sent by a member of Bishop Ervin Sims church below:

Bishop Sims Funeral – Details

I was there, helped with details of the service and here are Facts to know:

•Bishop Thuston was informed by the family DIRECTLY via a phone call a whole day before the funeral that Bishop Sims last wish was that HE DID NOT SPEAK OR PARTICIPATE AT HIS FUNERAL (Bishop Sims son informed him and so did a few other area bishops)

•Bishop Blake was aware of this FACT as well

•Bishop Thuston showed up anyway and got up anyway.

•His name was printed on the program by the national church anyway because of his position with them and it had already been printed.

•Bishop Sims installed his son Jason Sims several weeks before his death because he knew he was dying of cancer.

•Bishop Thuston is a known bully in the area, here’s why:

•He very territorial and recently in November 2019 during the bishops assembly he OPENLY had an ongoing investigation on another Kansas City bishop (Bishop Jack Vaughn, father of Cortez Vaughn – lead singer of JJ Hairston Grammy nominated “You Deserve it” ) and had the board vote against him for not having enough churches and he was stripped of his bishop-ship in the Church of God in Christ.

From the very first installation of Bishop Sims, Bishop John Mark Johnson, Bishop Frank Douglass, and Bishop Jack Vaughn; Thuston has felt threatened and he did everything he could to end or ruin each jurisdiction.

Also, when Bishop sims and his wife (the state supervisor of Kansas East, Mother Mary K Sims) was apart of Kansas East, Bishop Thuston (Bishop of Kansas east), kept rudely attacking Mother Mary Sims in meetings and tell her to “Shut up” and out rightly disrespecting her!! So Her and Bishop sims reported it and left, (not cogic, but Kansas east)! Then Bishop Blake gave Bishop Sims The COGIC Ghana Jurisdiction in Ghana Africa!!

Bishop Thuston has always used his position in The COGIC to stir up waters. Ask anyone in the area.
The name of the man who grabbed the mic and stopped him is STAN!! STAN has stood by Bishop Sims side since the beginning!! Always securing things.

It put Chrystal Rucker in a bad spot cause she had to sing the cermonic solo after that and she was really uncomfortable.

  1. Whoaaaaaa what was that all about…?!

  2. What’s he background for the this?

  3. Who was the guy that interrupted Bishop Thurston? Was he a part of the family?

  4. Well some COGIC preachers act like street niggahs.

  5. Why this happened?

  6. I would have honored the wishes of Bishop Sims and would have let the Chief Adjutant read what ever resolution was put together and left it at that. I would not have gone back up there and said nothing I think that was disrespectful. I don’t care how many pieces of paper they signed, the national church should always respect the wishes of the family. That should have been handled BEFORE the program was finalized. Makes you wonder if they even consulted the family.

    • What people don’t realize is this was a national funeral for a national Bishop and this service is the national church’s service. The presiding Bishop and general board orchestrates this service and not the family. Bishop Thurston is chairman of the general Assembly of the church and therefore a national figure that would have remarks at a Bishop’s funeral. A local or jurisdictional official or family has no say at a national funeral. These things are detailed to a Bishop designate and his wife before a Bishop is consecrated and they both sign off that once the Bishop is consecrated he becomes property of the national church. It may sound harsh, but thTs the way our church operates.

      • I’m the son of a jurisdictional bishop and this is absolutely true. The family has no say in the national service. The national service is the same format for every Bishop that dies. There is a template that is used and it never changes. Just because the family makes a request to change something, doesn’t meant it has to be changed. This is not the family’s service. They have no say so at all, and they agreed to those terms when he became a Bishop so technically Bishop Thuston was not wrong. The man who snatched the mic, however was completely wrong and he dishonored the sacred celebration of a great man and a great church. He made a big ridiculous scene which is now a viral mess.. for what? Bishop Thuston still spoke, yes he was interrupted but was allowed to finish his remarks and yet the national church stands behind Thuston, the mood of the service was completely different after his outburst and that will be what is most remembered about that service and it’s such a shame because Bishop Sims deserved better than that.

      • And there in lies the problem brother. If you hav any awareness of God, you can’t believe that it’s right though

        • John Simmons, I don’t like that the national church takes complete control of that service and doesn’t consider the family’s wishes, but that is what both Bishop and Mother Sims agreed to when they signed those papers some years ago when he became bishop. They relinquished their rights to having any voice as it pertains to that service. Jason Sims calling Bishop Thuston with instructions not to speak meant nothing. It’s not Jason’s service. It’s not the family’s service. Their service was Monday. They do not control the national service. Now, given how the family feels about Thuston, I personally think he should have yielded to the family’s request and not said anything at all. Was he wrong? According to the national church, no he wasn’t but when you look at the whole picture, Thuston shuda kept his behind at home. COGIC is a very controlling denomination. Be careful what you sign and give them control over. You might be signing your life away LITERALLY. The same will occur when Bishop Thuston dies. Sis Thuston will have no say so in that national service.

      • I dont care, the families request should have been honored. I sick of the COGIC rules.

      • Sounds more like a Catholic church to me.

      • Donielle Dowling-Taylor

I am cogic… this is just Foolery….Period….I worship God Not anyone from the Pulpit to the Door.

      • Thank you for reiterating this, a lot members don’t bother knowing how the Church operates.

  7. What people don’t realize is this was a national funeral for a national Bishop and this service is the national church’s service. • And that’s the problem with COGIC. The church and it’s doctrines have become bigger than the people. Regardless of the man’s position in the church, this isn’t a national service. It’s a funeral service for man who had every right to have his last wishes fulfilled. Even if that was to deny someone from speaking at HIS funeral. I find it down right disgusting on how COGIC feels like they can impose their will and wishes on something as personal and as intimate as a funeral.

      • That is why the church allows you to have a local and jurisdiction funeral and you run that. My dad was a bishop in Church ofGod in Christ, when it came to the National funeral the family had no say. We we herded in the funeral got our last look at Dad and sit our selves down until the funeral was over. We couldn’t say nothing on that day.

    • WE UNDERSTAND ALL THAT….
…BUT THIS GRAY AREA THAT MOST OF ARE TRYING NOT TO ADDRESS…
——->What About The Conversation Between Pastor Jason & Bishop Thuston?…The Same Convo Where Thuston Came Into Full Mutual Agreement He Wasnt Gonna Be There?…And What About How Thuston Lied To That Young Pastors Face Knowing Full Well He Was Going To Pull A Political Mind Game Just To Flex His Power…
…When In All Actuality, He Flat Out Lied To This Grieving Man Just To Prove A Point….at a funeral……smdh

      • Yo,it Proves Thuston is A Dirty Mofo. What Normal Nucca gon Show up at A Funeral where He fully knows His A*s not Welcome or Wanted. He got a His Final Dig at the Bishop and His Family. That’s all that Was. The Dirty MoFo didn’t even hv on His Official Robe and Errthang. Then He Playing like He’s so Sick. If U feeling that Bad then Stay Ur Black A*s Home. It’s a Special Kinda Nucca that will pull a Move Like He Did. #Respect 2, Da Guy who took the Mic😎😎🤷🏾‍♂️🤷🏾‍♂️!!!

  9. This isn’t about the National church being in charge of the Bishop’s service etc. Yes, the family has input over the funeral services of the local and jurisdiction. Yes, the National church is in charge! OKAY WE GET IT! But this isn’t about who’s in charge. This is about the REQUEST OF BISHOP SIMS AND HIS FAMILY. Common sense tells you there was some “behind the scenes” issues and problem between them. With that being said, BISHOP SIMS’ request should have been honored! If you know someone doesn’t WANT you to speak, why would you want to speak????? This is beyond a funeral service and who’s on program. THIS IS ALL ABOUT EGO! Bishop Thuston did what HE wanted to do. The family requested he not have words. Common sense would have let someone else.. read those resolutions. But no EGO had to show up and prove a point!!!!! EGO SAYS, I’M THE BISHOP I AM IN CHARGE OF GENERAL ASSEMBLY and IMMA HAVE MY SAY BO MATTER WHAT YA’LL SAY!!!

    • We must push forward, Most iimportant Bishop Sims Has gone to await the rapture, where the Dead In Christ will rise first to join our Heavenly Father. Whatever took place at the service, The church should celebrate a Great Servant who lived his life serving his God, and most important he introduced Or lead so many people To our Lord and Savior, His Name is Jesus.

  10. The family has the final word. When Daddy McCullough died, his wife went to court to take his body out of the church mausoleum because they would not let her be buried with him. When she went to the new bishop, he told her his decision was final. Well, the courts made it clear that even though the church provided arrangements, the body was under the jurisdiction of the family. Note–the church outlawed members visiting the new mausoleum and continued to hold memorial services at the empty mausoleum.

  11. I understand the differences between local and jurisdictional services now that I have read more. My question is although COGIC had control over a service… Did they have control over Bishop Sims body, funeral cost and arrangements? If the answer is NO and the family had full control over there loved ones body, meaning Bishop Sims body. Then the second my instructions were disrespected I would have told the funeral home grab the body and take him back to the funeral home. Ain’t no way you gone go against what I’m paying for!
