Everything Is Going Down, But The Word Of God……Clearly, these so called men of God are totally out of control.  At this point anything goes and no one can correct anyone else because they all are ratchet and ridiculous.  Travis Jennings name comes up often since I am a blogger.  Not long ago he said something to a woman that was totally offensive and inappropriate just as this clip of him laying hands on a woman and calling out the Bitch Spirit.  Now before we even deal with what he said let’s examine where he lays hands on the woman.  He should never touch her below her breast and lay hands on her stomach.  Funny he never gets out of line with men or perhaps it has just not gone viral yet.  The people are so caught up into his foolishness they are hollering and egging him on instead of rebuking him.  Travis it is time for you to sit down and get in prayer and ask God to help you.  Perhaps his intentions are pure, but his delivery is horrible!

hiw would he feel if someone called his wife a name like that over the pulpit?

John MacArthur, one of the greatest preachers alive, is always willing to speak his mind about what the Scripture teaches. I have many of his volumes in my library and am honored to count him as a friend.

In addition, John was one of the featured speakers at our recent Preach the Word Conference.

He recently posted an article on the topic of the frank discussion of sex in the pulpit and more that caused quite a stir. This article was brought to my attention, and I was asked my position on what he said.

My response was that I am in complete agreement with it. In fact, I wrote a similar blog post on the topic about six weeks ago.

So, here is that article for you to read again.

Reverence or Relevance?
March 11th, 2009 Posted in Pastor’s corner, sermons
It seems to me that for some we have lost the “fear of the Lord,” even in the Church.

There was a time when things were perhaps too uptight, and one spoke in whispers in the Church, and laughter was rarely heard. But today, many churches, in their attempt to be thought of as “cool” or “contemporary,” they have lost their focus.

I am not suggesting we attempt to be irrelevant and uncool, but my question is “Have we traded reverence for relevance?”

For instance, you have preachers talking in great detail about sexual issues, ranging from programs to have “sex every day for seven days” to more extreme versions in which they speak very graphically about specific sexual acts from the pulpit.

The cussing preacher

Then you have the “Cussing Preacher” syndrome. The pastor thinks it’s cool to use profanity in the pulpit so people will see him as one of them.

Is this all really necessary? I don’t think so.

Look, I have been a pastor for 35 years, and we have never had a problem reaching our culture and seeing people come to Christ. I am all for being real and authentic, but I also stand up on the platform to speak God’s Word.

1 Peter 4:11 says, “If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God” (NIV).

We are also told in Scripture to watch what we say. Speaking of the tongue, James writes, “With it we bless our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who are made in God’s likeness. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so” (James 3:9-10 ESV).

The early Church had it right

The early Church, the Church of the book of Acts, had it right, of course. And let’s not forget they “turned their world upside down” (see Acts 17:6). Do we ever need that today!

These first-century believers were filled with both joy and the fear of the Lord.

Acts 2:46-47 tells us, “So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people” (NKJV).

This phrase “gladness and sincerity of heart” literally means “with unaffected joy!” I love that–they were not afraid to express joy in their faith.

But there also was a sense or reverence and awe among these believers.
Acts 2:43 says, “Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles” (NKJV).

What is the fear of the Lord?

It does not mean you should be afraid of God. To fear God means that you have a healthy respect or reverence for Him. Another translation describes it as “a wholesome dread of displeasing God.” In other words, I love God so much that I want to do all I can to keep from displeasing Him.

Look, I am all for relevance. We need to make sense to the people we are reaching. But let’s not lower our standard in order to extend our reach.

Let’s not trade reverence for relevance.

I think for us to seek to live godly lives is very relevant, and very different than what this world has to offer. That’s how we will turn our world upside down, instead of the world turning us upside down.

  1. Chile, I wouldn’t let this fool lay hands on me he looks like he scratches his azz then sniffs his fingers afterwards:P

  2. You said Travis Jennings Is Totally Out Of Control And Calls A Woman A Bitch While Laying Hands On Her!
I saw the clip and he didn’t call her a bitch at anytime. He did called out the spirit of bitch and said to her that many called her a bitch and whore. I’m sure when Jesus Called the Canaanite Woman a Dog it would have gone viral and sounded like a hate message if it was done in our time! Just saying. Matthew 15:21–28
Travis Jennings was dealing with the attacks that this woman may have received from others concerned her character. If this is what God revealed to him about the woman, then he has a right to speak it out if he so wishes. Why is it an issue for us? The woman was touched and received the prayer that was given to her. It’s all on the clip!!!!!!

  3. So k Francis leaked this to you? Damn shame. Ministers trying to intentionally expose each other. What do you have on k Francis that be doesn’t want exposed. See you were trying to get $450 from him.

  4. Out of order. There is no way to defend this.

  5. Im sorry, when he gonna rebuke it out of himself????

  6. He has a serious Napoleon Complex.

  7. When did he call her a bitch?
Not even once did he call her that… anybody knows that words have power. Slaves were called nigga so much that it became a part of their identity. Deliverance is real and it’s not pretty. I pray that people stop trying to find fault with EVERYTHING people do.
I’m glad I don’t go to his church because I would’ve been fighting all of ya’ll at this point lol

  8. Christopher Simpson

    C’mon here…lol

  9. This is NOT deliverance by no means, what is going on there is a circus act. He needs to be shut down, there is no telling how much spiritual damage this guy has done playing church. I wonder if he calls his momma, wife and daughters bitches and whores?
There is no way that so called apostle should be or should have been speaking to the female members of that church the way he does. A man should never talk up under a women’s clothes what kind of bra another woman wears is none of his business, he should focus on being a pastor and not a stylist.

and two to call out a young lady and stand her before the church and verbally attack is out righ low life behavior. He was saying the word bitch with way too much feeling, as if he was joining in and calling her bitch whore stupid and the list goes on.

  10. Again, women will still flock and sit under this poor excuse of man and “Pastor”. I’m sorry but this is like being in an abusive marriage, he apologizes and she stays for more. GTHOH

  11. WTF? I’m so done with this church sHiT!!!!!

  12. Calling out that bitch spirit for a pastor is better than getting caught with some man penis in his mouth.. However I truly believe the pastor mistakenly called her bitch, he was trying to call out that whore spirit. If the whorish spirit left then he needs to visit all other church’s and line up pastors and rebuke that adulterous and gay azzz spirit. Amen!

    • I’m not so sure if he’s not having an identity crisis, since he seems to be so concerned with the way woman should look. I’m very wary of anyone who feels the need to tear down others. I understand this preacher apologized for this “private”session being made public. Private or not, so he could content is what’s so damaging. The pastor should have NEVER said ANYTHING to the lady about her weight, breast or bra even if there was no one in the room but just have m and her. Pastor Travis Jennings fall will be great!!!

  13. he did not call her a bitch he was rebuking the spirit of bad energy
